Celtic Folk ‘n’ Beat from Germany: The Aberlours

October 10, 2008 by The Crier · Leave a Comment

I first heard the Aberlours in Germany when they played a Renaissance evening in a castle in Glauchau. They are a 5 piece band that plays electric Celtic type music, a la Silly Wizard, with guitars, flute, fiddle, bass and drums. They sing in English and German, and are named after a Scottish brand of scotch whiskey. They have a huge amount of talent, and have recently played with Ian Anderson (of Jethro Tull fame).

Announcing the Birth of "Renaissance Village"

September 24, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

For the past few weeks we have had a bit of uncertainty about the location of the faire for 2009. I can now happily and joyfully tell you about the location. We will be having the faire at what is currently called “Quaker Mills” This location is just outside of Joplin, and closer to Joplin than the previous site.

Over the next few months we will begin to transform Quaker Mills into “Renaissance Village”, which will become it’s permanent name. The site is just gorgeous! It has Spring river running along side it, plenty of shade, plenty of trees, parking for around 3,000 cars and even real priveys! On top of this, there is a huge camping site that has water hook-ups, no electricity yet, but maybe by faire time. There will be pictures posted of the site this evening.

It is the intentions of Joplin Renaissance Festival to make this a permanent site from now on. We will be holding many festivities at Renaissance Village, other than the faire, so keep watching for other activities coming up.

Thanks to all for the support and kind words during this transition time. None of this could be made possible without all of you “Rennies” out there. Thank you all so very much!!

The kick-off event for the Avery Renaissance Festival, scheduled for October 4-5 2008, has been officially postponed.

September 20, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

So the original press reports proved to have had the final word, as Avery Faire has been put off for this year. Look for Washington to have another great new faire on it’s lineup for the 2009 season. The following is from their website at http://www.averyrenaissancefestival.com

The kick-off event for the Avery Renaissance Festival, scheduled for October 4-5 2008, has been officially postponed.

A number of final details with Mason County concerning the Festival are still in flux at this time, and rather than wait until the last minute, we think it best to postpone this years’ event and focus on our 2009 plans while these details are worked out.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to all the hundreds of people that have been so supportive of our efforts! Your encouragement and enthusiasm are very much appreciated! We will be moving forward with future events and have high expectations!

An official press release on the postponement will be issued shortly.

Thanks for your patience and understanding!

Casting for Ye Olde Times (MI Ren Faire)

September 3, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

There were, in fact, two casting people there at the MI Renaissance Fair. We did take a lot of photos and get a lot of numbers and names - but we are looking for more people to fill in for crowd scenes.

The filming will begin on the 15th of September, and run through the 26th or 27th of October.

If you would be interested in becoming an extra in the movie, please email us your age, availability and contact information (a personal phone number at which we can reach you), and we will get back with you as quickly as we are able, either by email or by phone.

Updated information from Kevin. Please contact him with any questions

Senator Yee got an amended version of his bill passed by the Assembly
