Elizabethan gemstone lecture in Fresno
September 3, 2008 by admin
I wanted to let you know of a lecture going on in Fresno, that I think
would be of interest to Elizabethan costumers. As part of the Fresno
Fiberarts Guild, their first workshop of the season is called
“Gemstone Applications in Elizabethan Times” presented by Kyle Marie
Laird.
“Kyle will discuss once fashionable Old World gemstone embellishments
and explain their applications as surface design decoration on period
garments of the Elizabethan era.”
My newsletter describes further that “(her) lecture will explain how
Queen Elizabeth dressed to display power. Kyle is in the process of
replicating one of Elizabeth’s gowns, and she will show us what she
has completed.”
You do not have to be a FFG member to attend the lecture, but they do
request a $10.00 fee for non-members.
This will be on Saturday September 20, at approximately 10:00am, after
their business meeting and social break which can vary. If you want to
attend the full morning meeting, they start promptly at 9:00am. It
usually ends at noon or so.
They meet at the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Service Center, near Fresno
& Barstow Ave. 5340 North Fresno St.

I hope to see some of you there.
