LARF: August Newsletter
August 27, 2008 by admin
Greetings everyone!
With just over 60 days until our 2008 Grand Opening things are
looking great at the Louisiana Renaissance Festival! Here are some
highlights and new information for everyone!
1. Our Girl Scout Theater workshop will be held at the Renaissance
Festival Site on Saturday September 13th from 10am to 5pm. We will
have activities for Junior and Brownie scouts that will fulfill most
of the requirements for the Theater Badge for Juniors and
several “Try-It’s” for Brownies. We are inviting Girl Scouts and
Brownies to join our cast members at our workshop where we will cover
most of the items needed for the “Theater” badge and several “Try-
Its”. Our cast specializes in “Improv”, which is acting without a
script and receives more than 50 hours of training each year, and
perform each year during our show for more than 100 hours. Advance
registration is required for this workshop. For more information

2. We have several special events that will take place this fall
during the Renaissance Festival during the festival day that I want to
remind you about.
The first special event is our Birthday Party, which is available two
times a day. Parties are available for both Adults and Children. For
children, Whether Princess, Knight, or Pirate, you and your friends
can undertake a quest of exploration, adventure, and knowledge with
the colorful residents of the Village of Albright. Your princess and
her entourage will learn everything they need to know to be a true
royal from the proper way to curtsy to the joyous fun of courtly
dancing. Training for knighthood is a must for young lords seeking
adventure. They must gain knowledge and learn skills necessary to be
a noble Knight of Albright. The pirate life can be a rewarding one
for those willing to seek Spanish gold for her Majesty. All of our
noble lords and ladies and even our pirate friends will end their day
with an audience with Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth where they
will be rewarded with an invitation to join the court as a princess,
knight, or privateer for Albright. For additional information visit:

The second special event is our Wine or Whisky tasting event. Our
Wine tasting will lead novice tasters and experienced connoisseurs
through a tasting of 8 premium wines, accompanied by fruit, cheese
and bread. New this year is the addition of Whisky tasting as our
guests explore the tastes of the “Water of Life.” featuring three
Scotch whiskies and one Irish whiskey. For additional information

The third special event is our Wedding packages. Since every wedding
is a unique event, please contact Leigh at weddings@larf.org for more
information and options that we have available.
3. We are now accepting reservations for our 7th Annual Student Day
program. This exciting educational event is open to public, private
and home school groups. This year’s dates are November 11th, 12th and
13th from am to 2pm. This year we will also be offering a fund
raising opportunity to schools that join us. For more nformation on
our Student Day program visit:

We have added a new feature to our program this year that gives
schools the chance to raise funds for their school! We will provide
all schools that participate in our Student Day program coupons that
can be handed out to family, friends, co-workers and neighbors. Each
coupon that is used not only saves money for the person buying
tickets, but also earns money for the school! For more information on
this fund raising opportunity please visit:

4. A reminder that the final deadline for merchant applications is
Monday September 1st, with the final jury meeting on Thursday
September 4th. Applications received after the final jury meets will
not be considered for this year. If you have a unique hand crafted
product I would love to hear from you! If you have any questions
please feel free to let me know. I can be reached by email to
