As you drive up the road you could feel the magic returning to the Park, you felt the energy, you felt the anticipation, you traveled back into the past.  The Magic has returned to the Park in Anderson with the return of the Shasta Highlands Renaissance Faire.  After the absence in 2006 the Faire is back with new life and even more atmosphere.

The Faire brought an educational flare this year.  They brought Students of all ages together from area schools for an educational day on the Friday before the Faire opened to the public.  They arrived ready for an exciting day filled with many different aspects of how it was to live in the 1500’s.  There were about 300 students in all who went from class to class learning about Animal Husbandry, Clothing, Weaponry, Food, Class Structure in Elizabethan Society and Blacksmithing.  The students all had smiles on their faces while they went from class to class and so many of them came back with their families and enjoyed the weekend.

On the weekend, the Joust was wonderful and kept the audience well entertained, I saw kids walking around with shards of the Lance’s as souvenirs and they were loving it!  What a souvenir for them.  The entertainment was non-stop, from the gigging in the streets to the Stage performers every time you turned around something was happening somewhere.  I truly enjoyed watching how the actors interacted with the public and the public was playing back.

The food was great, the lines weren’t that long and there was something for everyone to eat.  The Fire breathing dragon made for great conversation for people of all ages, the kids were in awe.  There were shops with something for everyone, from Faerie Wings to Leather Goods, from Soaps and Incense to Swords.  So many people found gifts for people that you wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else.  The Archery was a hit with all and there were games for all to enjoy.

As the sun began fading the Village slowly disappeared and left many awaiting the Faire’s return next year.
