Happy Birthday Dear Steevil

2921278204_ae6ecf7657 From your friends over on the RustySword Yahoogroup, the NorCal Renaissance Faire Circuit, and beyond, here’s some thoughts to tide you over on your prep towards the long haul towards Yuma Faire this weekend. It’s Steve Moore’s Birthday from the great magical duo of Myth & Magic. From all of us at RenProd, Bill & Marti, Rellie, Perry – from Mark and Lorna at Rusty Sword – from Chris & Raelynn at RenRose. Across the West Coast Ren Scene you’re admired and respected and genuinely liked (not an easy combination to hold across such a diverse lot). Below are comments passed along from your admiring fans and friends.

May your natal day bring you many good surprises" – and many more good days ahead! – Raelynn

Steve, You are one of the greatest!  You keep us smiling, laughing and in many cases broke (never play poker with a magician!!)  Hugs and Happy Birthday -  Rellie

Steve is a GENEROUS performer and a real kick to have at a fair.  I wish him the very happiest birthday ever! - Geri Creque

Happy Birthday Steve!!  Hope you have lots of fun and enjoy your special day.  From myth and magic’s little sis - Mariah.

Happy Birthday. may the funny man continue to be funny. luv ya man. – Perry

Steve is one of the best actors I can think of.  His talent for improv  is tremendous, demonstrated when I asked him to make up a song about  Age of Chivalry’s booth to the tune of "Music of the Night".  Steve  thought for maybe 10 seconds, and suddenly there was such a song.   Sheer brilliance!  He’s also one of the best creative magical minds I  know, and I would go to him for advice any day.
Cheers!-
Trey

Steve you are amazing!  You sir are a true God among men. – Tim Wissemansteve

Dear Steve, Wishing you the Best and Happiest Birthday Ever!! Your Friend, Angel Bodice Goddess

!cid_3316081402_8224545Hey Steve, You are always a ray of sunshine and a joy to be around. I hope you have a great birthday! And many more!!! Stay out of trouble – if you can’t – have fun anyway! lol  :) Take care - Robin VC/Shasta

This is by far one of my favorite stories to tell about Steve and since he is getting old, I can tell it and he can’t catch me!! Several years ago, when Steve and I used to set up a small pavillion to do close up magic out of, we were at SLO and doing our usual schtick of working the crowd. I do a trick, Steve does one, back and forth just working the crowd, and trying to keep the energy going. Well, when the other guy is doing his thing, you are busy setting for the next one and not paying attention really to the people. It is during this time that Steve is finishing a bit, that I notice a couple standing there that seemed familiar to me. I knew I knew them, but MM Dunsmuir 2006couldn’t place it, so I just brushed it off as "Yes, I do faire. No. I don’t know your name!" and proceeded to ASTOUND them with my performance of the "Invisible Deck". I am about halfway through the routine when it finally clicks who the man and woman are, and consequently start feeling a little sheepish, but hey, I’m already committed and others are watching so I finish, and I get a good response, and everyone claps.  It is at this time that my best friend Steve, who has all this time been getting ready for his next bit, pipes up and says "Well, if you liked that, let me show you one more!". The gentleman says "Sure. But before you do, let me introduce ourselves. My name is Johnathan, and this is my wife, Charlotte. We’re the Pendragons!" to which my buddy Steve says "Yeah, right!" (Quick note: For those of you who do not know who the Pendragons are, visit http://www.thependragons.net to find out why I felt sheepish) and Johnathan Pendragon was so stunned at Stevils reply he was forced to respond with "No, no! We REALLY ARE!" I think Steve might have hurt his feelings, but by this time, I am laughing my ass off and telling Steve "NO, NO, it IS them". It is the only time in my life that I have ever seen Steve taken off guard while performing, but being the consumate professional, he says "So I’m guessin’ you probably don’t want to see the black on white chips change places in my hand, do ya!!" And we all had a good laugh and a very fun conversation with them after.

Happy Birthday to my very BEST FRIEND! Here’s to you for all that you do. Your sense of humor, quick wit, and multiple2160847569_5acca78ed3 personalities are an inspiration to us all! Snipe

Steve tells a great story. I mean giant bugs, zombies, vampires, glowing orbs and people we know kicking all sorts of body parts, great stuff! He puts himself out for the betterment of the community. He’s funny and willing to share his knowledge. Happy Birthday! - Moriah, The Woven Potter

!cid_3316081402_82232992732912552_d1dd1050ec I’d like to thank Steve for all the wit and humor and life he helps inject into faire. It’d be much poorer without him. - Dan

I wanted to wish Steve a Happy Birthday and say thank you for welcoming me into the Ren Faire circuit last year. While I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off and terribly nervous, he actually knew who I was and was very friendly and encouraging. Thank you Steve! – Monika,
Mysterious Cloaks

While being a ‘straight-shooter’, and always calling them as he sees them, Steve has maintained a way of speaking to people, rather than at them. It was his calmer recognition of the fact that I was trying to make a difference that made me sit and take a look at my own approach and realize that I needed to couch things better. Steve has a way of speaking directly to you, making the lesson personal, while at the same time maintaining a professional disposition. I appreciate what he has taught me, and hope he is around to teach others for a long time yet to come… -Kris
